  2. Historical Sites: Explore UNESCO sites like Berati, Sofia, Mostar (Bosnia), and Belgrade (Serbia)… Expect to see ancient ruins, medieval towns, and Ottoman-era architecture.

  3. Nature: The Balkans are known for breathtaking landscapes, the Bay of Kotor (Montenegro), and Lake Ohrid (Albania/North Macedonia), Sava And Danubi River (Serbia)…

Itinerary

Day 1 - Tirana Airport - Hotel

Upon your arrival in Albania, our Tour Leader will meet you at the airport exit. After gathering we will transfer you directly to your accommodation in  Tirana. You’ll have some free time to unwind and recover from your journey. The day is designed as a welcome opportunity to meet our Tour Leader and explore the surrounding area at your own pace. Overnight stay in Tirana.

Day 2 - Tirana - Berat - Ohrid (North Macedonia)

PICK UP

After meeting with the Tour Leader in your hotel we start the tour towards Berat.

BERAT

Berat is a picturesque city in central Albania, known for its well-preserved Ottoman architecture and scenic location along the Osum River. Often referred to as the “City of a Thousand Windows” due to its distinctive houses with large windows, Berat is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city’s highlights include the ancient Berat Castle, which has been continuously inhabited for centuries, and the Onufri National Iconographic Museum, showcasing beautiful Orthodox icons. The historic neighborhoods of Mangalem and Gorica offer narrow, winding streets and traditional white houses that give the city a timeless charm. Berat is also an important center of Albanian culture, with a rich history dating back to the Roman period. After the tour of Berat we continue towards North Macedonia.

OHRID

Ohrid is a beautiful city located in the southwestern part of North Macedonia, by the shores of Lake Ohrid. It is often referred to as the “Jerusalem of the Balkans” due to its rich cultural and religious history. The city has been inhabited since ancient times, with its roots tracing back to the 4th century BC, and it is famous for its ancient architecture, churches, and monasteries.

Ohrid is also known for being a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its well-preserved historical sites. Among the most notable attractions are: Lake Ohrid, Church of St. John at Kaneo, Samuil’s Fortress, Ancient Theatre of Ohrid, St. Sava Church, Halveti Teke and Old Bazzar. Overnight in Ohrid.

 

Day 3 - Ohrid - Matka Canyon - Skopje

MATKA CANYON

Matka Canyon is a stunning natural wonder located just outside Skopje, North Macedonia. Known for its dramatic landscapes, the canyon is carved by the Treska River and offers breathtaking views of steep cliffs, lush greenery, and crystal-clear waters. The area is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering activities like hiking, kayaking, and boat tours. Matka Canyon is also home to several caves, including the Vrelo Cave, one of the deepest underwater caves in the world. The region is rich in biodiversity and is a serene escape, just a short distance from the city, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Here we can enjoy a boat ride before heading to Skopje.

SKOPJE

Our journey continues to Skopje, the vibrant capital of North Macedonia, a city shaped by European, Ottoman, and even Asian influences. The iconic Stone Bridge connects the modern and old parts of the city. One of Skopje’s most notable landmarks is the Alexander the Great Statue, located in the city center. Another impressive sight is the Art Bridge, which leads to the Archaeological Museum, adorned with colorful street lanterns and statues of Macedonian artists and musicians. We’ll explore the Old Bazaar, the largest in the Balkans, where the modern lifestyle blends seamlessly with centuries of history. A towering cross on top of the mountain, visible from miles away, has become a defining symbol of Skopje. Overnight stay in Skopje.

Day 4 - Skopje - Sofia (Bulgaria)

SOFIA

Our destination today is Bulgaria and in some hours driving we will reach the Capital. Sofia  is a city rich in history, culture, and stunning landmarks. One of the most iconic sights is the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a grand example of Bulgarian Orthodox architecture with its golden domes. Another notable site is the Boyana Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its exceptional medieval frescoes. For a glimpse of Sofia’s Roman past, the Serdica Archaeological Complex offers ancient ruins right in the city center. The Vitosha Boulevard is a bustling shopping street lined with cafes and boutiques, offering great views of the nearby Vitosha Mountain, a popular spot for hiking and skiing. Other significant landmarks include the National Palace of Culture, the Banya Bashi Mosque, and the Sofia Synagogue, reflecting the city’s diverse cultural and religious heritage. Sofia’s mix of historical treasures and modern developments makes it a captivating destination for visitors. Overnight in Sofia.

 

Day 5 - Sofia - Belgrade (Serbia)

After meeting with the Tour Leader in your hotel, today we will continue our tour towards Serbia and our Destination will be Belgrade.

BELGRADE

Our first stop will be the Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park, located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. The panoramic view of the city from the Fortress is truly breathtaking. In the Upper Town of the fortress, we will visit the Pobednik monument, a historic landmark from 1913. Kalemegdan Park is a vast green space with lush trees and tranquil walking paths. We will then stroll down Knez Mihailova, the lively heart of Belgrade, and make our way to Republic Square . The afternoon is yours to explore and enjoy the city at your leisure. Overnight in Belgrade.

Day 6 - Belgrade - Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

After breakfast we will drive towards Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Hercegovina.

SARAJEVO

 Today’s tour involves walking through uneven terrain as we explore some of the city’s historic ruins. Reminders of the Yugoslav War are still visible in the form of bullet holes and cannon marks scattered throughout the city. Our journey will take us through the origins of Sarajevo, from the medieval Bosnian Kingdom to its diverse Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian heritage. We’ll visit the vibrant markets, mosques, churches, and synagogues that highlight Sarajevo’s unique status as a “European Jerusalem.” A key stop will be the Latin Bridge, where we’ll learn about the event that triggered World War I. The bridge is named after the Latinluk district, which once connected the Catholic quarter to the rest of the city during Ottoman times. Sarajevo is also famous for its delicious meat dishes and desserts. Overnight in Sarajevo.

Day 7 - Sarajevo - Jabllanica - Mostar

Our continues towards Jabllanica and Mostar.

JABLLANICA

Jablanica is a small town in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, known for its stunning natural beauty and historical significance. It is located near the Jablanica Lake, which is popular for outdoor activities like fishing and boating. The town is also famous for the Battle of Neretva, a key World War II battle, with a memorial dedicated to the event. Jablanica offers a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by mountains, making it a great spot for nature lovers and history enthusiasts.

MOSTAR

Mostar is a picturesque city in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, renowned for its stunning Stari Most (Old Bridge), an iconic symbol of the city and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The bridge, originally built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, was reconstructed after being destroyed during the Bosnian War in the 1990s. Mostar is known for its charming old town, with cobbled streets, traditional Ottoman-style houses, and vibrant markets. The city is also famous for its rich cultural heritage, blending Ottoman, Mediterranean, and Western influences. Visitors can explore the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, the Old Bazaar, and the Museum of War and Genocide Victims to learn about the city’s complex history. Mostar’s stunning scenery, including the emerald-green Neretva River and surrounding mountains, makes it a must-visit destination. Overnight in Mostar.

Day 8 - Mostar - Kotor- Budva - Montenegro Riviera (Montenegro)

Our tour continues towards Kotor (Montenegro), a UNESCO world heritage site where we will visit the Old Town and after that Budva Old Town.

KOTOR

Kotor Old Town is a beautifully preserved medieval town located in Montenegro, nestled between dramatic mountains and the Bay of Kotor. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its narrow, winding streets, ancient stone buildings, and charming squares. Key landmarks include the Kotor Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, a stunning example of Romanesque architecture, and the City Walls, which stretch up the mountainside offering spectacular views of the town and bay. The Old Town is a blend of Venetian, Byzantine, and local influences, reflecting its rich history as a trading hub and cultural center. With its vibrant atmosphere, historic sites, and picturesque views, Kotor Old Town is a must-visit destination for history and culture lovers. Overnight in Montenegro Riviera

BUDVA

Budva is a coastal town in Montenegro, known for its vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches, and rich historical heritage. The town is often referred to as the “Montenegrin Miami” due to its lively atmosphere and popular tourist attractions. Budva’s Old Town (Stari Grad) is a charming mix of narrow streets, ancient walls, and Venetian architecture, with highlights including the Citadel, St. Ivan’s Church, and Ballet Square. The town is also famous for its stunning beaches, such as Mogren Beach, and its vibrant summer festivals and events. Budva’s combination of history, natural beauty, and modern attractions makes it a popular destination on the Adriatic coast. Overnight in Budva.

Day 9 - Budva - St Stefan - Shkoder (Albania )

Our first stop today will be Sveti Stefan (view point ) and then Shkoder.

SVETI STEFAN

Sveti Stefan is a small, picturesque island in Montenegro, famous for its luxury resort. Connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, it was once a fishing village and is now a symbol of the country’s natural beauty. The island features charming stone buildings, pristine beaches, and stunning views of the Adriatic Sea. It’s one of Montenegro’s most iconic and exclusive destinations.

SHKODER

Shkoder is a historic city in northern Albania, known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic surroundings. It sits near Lake Shkodra, one of the largest lakes in the Balkans, offering stunning views and outdoor activities. The city is home to notable landmarks like the Rozafa Castle, which offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscapes, and the Marubi National Museum of Photography, showcasing Albania’s photographic history. Shkoder also has a vibrant old town with traditional Ottoman-era architecture, making it a great destination for history and culture enthusiasts. Overnight in Shkoder.

Day 10 - : Shkodra – Theth National Park – Shkoder

Today destination will be Thethi National Park including 2 hours hiking

THETHI

As we travel towards Northern Albania, you will be captivated by the stunning landscapes—vast wild fields, flowing rivers, the picturesque Shkodra Lake, and rugged, untouched mountains. When we turn off the main road towards Theth, the scenery becomes even more rural, with fewer vehicles and more untouched nature. This area is renowned for its cultivation of medicinal herbs, and if you’re visiting in May or June, you’ll be enchanted by the fragrant lavender fields, evoking the charm of Provence, France. As we ascend, we’ll pass through winding hillsides, reaching Qafa e Thores, situated at 1,700 meters above sea level, offering one of the best panoramic views of the Albanian Alps. Upon arrival in Theth, we’ll explore the Old Church and the iconic Lock-in Tower, both rich with centuries of history. Overnight in Shkoder.

Day 11 - Shkoder – Mirizi i Zanave Agro tourism – Prizren (Kosovo)

In our itenerary today is included a Stop in the most famous agrotuorism of Albania where we will have a tour and after IT we will continue towards Kosovo in the city of Prizren.

MRIZI I ZANAVE AGROTOURISM

Our first stop today is one of the best slow food agro-tourism destinations in the Balkans. We will take a guided tour around the farm, learning about its history and how it has created over 400 jobs for the local community. The farm specializes in collecting, processing, and preserving regional organic products. Additionally, we’ll discover how this family-run business transformed old communist-era buildings into storage spaces for locally made organic goods. You’ll also have free time to enjoy a traditional lunch (on your expensis ) or purchase fresh produce directly from the farm.

PRIZREN

Prizren is a historic city in southern Kosovo, renowned for its cultural diversity and beautiful Ottoman-era architecture. Often referred to as the cultural capital of Kosovo, it is home to a rich mix of religious sites, including mosques, churches, and a synagogue, reflecting its multicultural heritage. One of the most famous landmarks is the Prizren Fortress, offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding area. The Stone Bridge and the Old Bazaar are also iconic, with charming cobblestone streets lined with traditional shops and cafes. Prizren is known for its festivals, including the Prizren Film Festival, and its vibrant arts scene. The city’s combination of history, culture, and stunning landscapes makes it a must-visit destination in the Balkans. Overnight in Prizren.

Day 12 - Prizren - Gjakova - Decan - Prizren

After the breakfast we will continue our tour and visit Gjakova, have a walking tour around the Old Bazzar, and later continue towards Decani where we will visit Decani Monastery.

GJAKOVA

Gjakova is a historic city in western Kosovo, known for its rich cultural heritage and beautiful Ottoman-era architecture. One of the city’s main highlights is the Old Bazaar, which is a lively area full of traditional shops, cafes, and historical buildings. Gjakova is also famous for the Hadum Mosque, built in the 16th century, and the Ethnological Museum, which showcases the region’s history and customs. The city is a symbol of religious and cultural diversity, with mosques, churches, and traditional Albanian homes coexisting peacefully. Gjakova is surrounded by scenic landscapes, offering a peaceful atmosphere while preserving its deep historical roots.

DECANI MONASTERY

Dečani Monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in western Kosovo, near the town of Dečani. It is one of the most important and well-preserved examples of Serbian medieval architecture, built in the 14th century by King Stefan Dečanski. The monastery is famous for its stunning Byzantine-style frescoes, which cover nearly every surface of the church, depicting religious scenes in vibrant colors. The Dečani Monastery is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of cultural and historical significance, with a rich tradition of spiritual life. Surrounded by beautiful mountainous landscapes, it remains a key pilgrimage site for Orthodox Christians and a testament to the region’s medieval heritage. Overnight in Prizren.

Day 13 - Prizren - Kruje - Tirane

Our first stop today will be Kruja and after the tour and some free time we will head to Tirana.

KRUJA

Kruja is a historic town in central Albania, famous for its medieval castle and its association with the national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti (Skanderbeg). The town is known for its charming cobbled streets, traditional Ottoman-style houses, and stunning views over the surrounding mountains and valleys. The Kruja Castle, which dates back to the 5th century, is the main attraction and was once the stronghold of Skanderbeg during his resistance against the Ottoman Empire. Inside the castle, you can visit the Skanderbeg Museum, which tells the story of his life and legacy. The Bazaar of Kruja, located just outside the castle, is a lively area filled with local handicrafts, souvenirs, and traditional products. Kruja is a town that beautifully blends history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination in Albania. Overnight in Tirana.

Day 14 - Day tour of Tirana - End of the tour

Our tour for today is focused only in Tirana. It will be a full day tour where you will visit so many landmarks. After the tour you will be accompanied to the airport by our Tour Leader.

TIRANA

Tirana is the vibrant capital of Albania, known for its lively atmosphere, rich history, and cultural diversity. The city features a mix of architectural styles, from Ottoman-era buildings to Soviet-era structures and modern developments. Skanderbeg Square, the heart of the city, is surrounded by important landmarks, including the National History Museum, which offers insight into Albania’s past, and the Et’hem Bey Mosque, a beautiful example of Ottoman architecture, BunkART Museum, initially designed as a nuclear bunker offering shelter to the Albanian communist
supreme leader Enver Hoxha and his close party members during the cold war.  One of Tirana’s most famous spots is Mount Dajti, offering stunning views of the city and surrounding landscapes, easily accessible by cable car. The city is also known for its vibrant arts scene, trendy cafes, and colorful buildings, making it an exciting destination for visitors. Tirana is a dynamic blend of tradition and modernity, offering both historical attractions and a lively cultural scene. We will also visit the Museum of Armed Forces and Petrela Castle.
