Depart from Tirana to Berat, a UNESCO-listed city known for its Ottoman-style architecture and historic castle.
Berat is a historic city in central Albania, known as the “City of a Thousand Windows” due to its unique Ottoman-era architecture. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its well-preserved castle, charming old neighborhoods, and stunning views over the Osum River. Berat’s ancient structures, such as the Berat Castle and the Onufri National Iconographic Museum, showcase its rich cultural and religious heritage. Here we are visiting Mangalemi Neighborhood, Gorica Neighborhood, King Mosque, Castle of Berat, Onufri Museum and Gorica Bridge.
Continue to Ohrid, home to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ohrid Lake and city. Ohrid is a beautiful city located in the southwestern part of North Macedonia, by the shores of Lake Ohrid. It is often referred to as the “Jerusalem of the Balkans” due to its rich cultural and religious history. The city has been inhabited since ancient times, with its roots tracing back to the 4th century BC, and it is famous for its ancient architecture, churches, and monasteries. We are going to visit the Church of St. John at Kaneo, Church of St. Nicholas, Samuil Fortress, Ancient Theatre and the Hayati Tekke Mosque. Overnight in Ohrid.
After meeting with the Tour Leader we continue towards the capital of North Macedonia Skopje.
SKOPJE
Skopje is the capital of North Macedonia, blending a rich history with modern development. The city is known for its diverse architecture, from Ottoman-era structures like the Stone Bridge and Mustafa Pasha Mosque to neoclassical buildings in the city center. Skopje also features numerous statues and monuments, reflecting its cultural heritage. The Vardar River runs through the city, adding to its scenic charm. After the arrival we start the tour visiting The Old Bazzar, Stone Bridge, Alexander Square, Mother Theresa Memorial and The Castle Of Skopje.
PRISTINA
Our tour continues towards Pristina, the capital and largest city of Kosovo. It has a dynamic, youthful atmosphere, driven by a large student population and a growing cultural scene. The city’s history is marked by Ottoman influences, visible in its mosques and architecture, as well as its more recent history following Kosovo’s declaration of independence in 2008. Key landmarks include the iconic Newborn Monument, which is re-painted annually to reflect the country’s evolving identity, and the National Library of Kosovo, known for its distinctive and controversial architecture. Pristina also boasts historical sites such as the Gračanica Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Ethnological Museum offering insights into local traditions. The city serves as a hub for political, economic, and cultural activities in the region. Overnight in Pristina.
Our next destination for today is Prizren.
PRIZREN
Prizren is a historic city in southern Kosovo, known for its rich cultural heritage and stunning Ottoman-era architecture. It is often considered Kosovo’s cultural capital, with a mix of diverse religious and cultural influences, including mosques, churches, and monasteries. Notable landmarks include the Prizren Fortress, offering panoramic views of the city, the beautiful Stone Bridge, and the Lumbardhi River that flows through the town. The city’s old town is charming, with cobbled streets, traditional houses, and lively bazaars. Prizren is also home to the UNESCO-listed Church of Our Lady of Ljeviš, a significant medieval monument. After thr tour of Prizren visiting The Old Bazzar, Sinan Pasha Mosque, Cathedral of Prizren, Archeological Museum and Fortress of Prizren we have some free time before heading to Albania.
TIRANA
If the time promises we have a walking tour of Tirana starting from Scanderbeg Square and ending to Mother Theresa Square when we can have some information about communism and post communism times. After that you will be accompanied to your hotel.
